The Resurrection of a Symmetry in Nucleon - Nucleus Scattering
We re-examine a symmetry in nucleon nucleus scattering that previously had been proclaimed to be dead. We show that this symmetry is the continuum analog of pseudospin symmetry, a relativistic symmetry which manifests itself in the spectra of nuclei. Using experimental data only we show that pseudospin symmetry in nucleon nucleus scattering is not dead but only modestly broken for 800 MeV proto...
متن کاملMean field calculations of nucleon-nucleus scattering.
Corrections to the first order term of the multiple scattering expansion of the nucleon-nucleus optical potential due to the propagation of the projectile nucleon in the target nucleus mean field are estimated. The effects of nonlocalities of the nucleon-nucleon transition amplitude are included. Calculations are performed for nucleon scattering from O and Pb at 100, 200, and 400 MeV incident e...
متن کاملNon - localities in nucleon - nucleus potentials and their effects in nucleon - nucleus scattering
Two causes of non-locality inherent in nucleon-nucleus scattering are considered. They are the results of two-nucleon antisymmetry of the projectile with each nucleon in the nucleus and the dynamic polarization potential representation of channel coupling. For energies ∼ 40− 300 MeV, a g-folding model of the optical potential is used to show the influence of the knock-out process that is a resu...
متن کاملMicroscopic optical potentials for nucleon - nucleus scattering
Microscopic optical potentials for nucleon-nucleus (NA) scattering obtained from the folding of the effective g matrices, solutions of the Bruckner-BetheGoldstone equation, with the densities of the target, are applied to the case of neutron-nucleus scattering. Given that the optical potentials are specified in all two-body angular momentum, spin and isospin channels available to the NA scatter...
